Bangs, TX, a small town in West-Central Texas, was named for Samuel Bangs, a printer during
the Texas Revolution. Sometime in 1886, a depot was built in Bangs, as tracks were laid from
Brownwood to San Angelo. When a general store was opened, the owner applied for a post
office. The post office was opened May 24, 1886. Bangs was incorporated in 1915. US Highway
67 was built through the small Texas in 1937 which opened the door for housing development
after WW II.
